Resource: Mental Health of Transgender Youth: The Role of Family, School, and Community in Promoting Resilience

The Children, Youth & Family Consortium (CYFC) is an extension of the University of Minnesota that aims to translate what researchers have discovered into practice and policy to improve the health and well-being of communities.  In response to new research and high interest on transgender youth, Extension CYFC released its latest Children’s Mental Health eReview – “Mental Health of Transgender Youth: The Role of Family, School, and Community in Promoting Resilience.”  The review focuses on gender variance and transgender identities among children and adolescents.  Extension CYFC also has provided a short overview of the full eReview that summarizes the most recent research on transgender youth and provides recommendations for interventions within families, schools, and communities.
