The 16th Annual UMN Women’s Health Research Conference was half-day event hosted by Women’s Health Research Program and co-sponsored by the Center for Women in Medicine and Science and Center for Leadership Education in Maternal & Child Public Health.

The conference featured plenary panel presentations, panel discussion, and a poster session on women’s health research. It drew interdisciplinary women’s health researchers, health care providers, students, and community public health professionals for a day of learning, networking and research dissemination. Participants attended from all over the Twin Cities metro, rural Minnesota, and neighboring states.

Experts collectively brought into conversation how Black feminism shapes equity healthcare work and bridges the gap between research and activism of different communities. Pandemic Trauma and Stress Experience (PTSE) has been a new concept born out of living in current trauma with multiple pandemics. There has also been a new implementation to understanding child and adolescent behavioral health, Positive Childhood Experiences (PCE’s) recognizes that people are more than their trauma and can focus on the path of healing while addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s).
