The national Justice-Involved Women and Children (JIWC) Collaborative interactive map and directory highlights the enhanced perinatal programs serving pregnant and postpartum people who are incarcerated across the U.S.
Enhanced perinatal programs provide a comprehensive set of services (community-based programs, doula support, prenatal education, midwifery care, lactation support and parenting education) during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period that go beyond standard clinical care. Learn more about these types of programs and the state laws related to this topic in our policy brief, State Laws on Enhanced Perinatal Support for People who are Pregnant and Incarcerated.
We hope this Directory also helps identify opportunities to expand enhanced perinatal programming in carceral settings.
